Zipline Adventure

Do you have a fear of heights a.k.a. acrophobia?  If so, I would suggest you go sit on the floor for this post.
Last summer, we took a trip down to St. Augustine, FL and visited the St. Augustine Aquarium. This small locally owned aquarium is anything but boring. They had the most gorgeous fish I've ever seen... seriously, you have to try the Snorkeling Adventure. But that's not where this story is going to take us. We are going up in the treetops.
I never considered myself a person with acrophobia ... until I was standing on the platform harnessed in and about to zoom across to the other side of the zip line. You can rest assured that I butchered the very polite guides with every question pertaining to the zip line, harness and the ability for the line to support me. The guides were very polite and patient, and reassured me multiple times that the zip line could basically support a car.  And they offered to lower me down onto terra-firma if I thought I couldn't do it.
I wasn't about to back down from a fight. So off I went, screaming my head off and hanging on for dear life. And the most incredible thing happened.  I made it to the other side. I was alive! Ha.  After that, I was ready for the next portion of the course. But before I zoomed off, I thanked the knowledgeable guide that had helped me through. She said that she was "very good at talking people off a ledge." I had to agree with her on that, considering the fear factor I had before she answered my million questions.
The second time I zipped across, it was totally different. I felt the wind on my face as I enjoyed the scenery and the speedy ride. Truth be told, my favorite part was the last zip. When we flew over the aquarium and you could see all the fishies swimming happily in the tanks and the birds sing in the trees. But then reality set in.  We finished the course. NOOOOOO!!!! Part of me was ready to climb to the beginning and do it again. (Disclaimer: I did not do that...because I didn't want to get us kicked out of this fun place.)
In short, ziplining is one of the scariest and most fun activities we did in St. Augustine. So in case you're on that side of town, and ready take a ride on the wild side, I highly urge you to head on over to the St. Augustine Aquarium and try everything they have to offer.
