LIFE UPDATE: Moving

To all of our loyal readers, I would like to apologize for not posting in a while. It has been complete craziness, in a good way. We've found our dream house within our budget and have recently purchased it. Correction, it's in the "sold-half-of-everything-we-own" budget. But it's ours. That means we will be moving, out of our long-time rental, to our forever home, by the end of April. We haven't packed one thing; we've still got time, right!?
Moving is an exciting adventure, isn't it?! You get to move to a different town, neighborhood and meet new people. To some of you out there, it might sound horrible. To me, it is exhilarating...especially since our house has a pool!
If you've been reading this blog for awhile you can probably guess I'm going to lecture you on the best tips on moving. But my dear friends, this time you are mistaken. I'm going to lecture you on the DON'Ts. For example, Don't put all of your bathroom products in a garbage bag and then put it on the moving truck... it will get thrown away. But enough on "the case of the missing conditioner." I think it's time we start on the many DON'T's of moving.

1. Don't move-in and then clean. Seriously that's just unsanitary.
2. Don't pack everything on the moving truck. Pack the stuff you need for the first couple of days in an overnight bag, and take it with you in the car.
3. Don't buy wardrobe boxes. Instead, take a garbage bag and shimmy it around your hung up clothes and tie it around the hanger. Take in the car with you.
4. Don't under bubblewrap. It doubles as a stress reliever when unpacking.
5. Don't keep everything you own. You are moving into a new house, do you want it to as messy as your last? SELL, SELL, SELL!!!!
6. Don't be afraid to ask for boxes. Almost any store you go to there are boxes piling up in their storeroom. Ask a sales employee or the manager if you can pick a couple up. Or if you're one of those rich people go ahead and buy boxes and leave the free ones for us. ;)
7. Don't forget to pack a cooler. It's 1:00PM and you haven't eaten today. Can you spell disaster?
8. Don't forget to pack for your animals. They get hungry and thirsty, too!
9. Don't buy a house you like less than your last one. This one should just be common sense.
10. Don't always count on the realtor.  You are capable of doing more of the buying process than you might realize. On the other hand though, realtors know how to file the paperwork. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Sorry guys!  That's all I've got for now. Hope you find this helpful and have a smooth transition to your new home.
